News123, a new innovative project which seeks to establish a unique way of communication and distribution of news and information to the masses of Swahili speaking in Africa, also to feed the same and teach the language to diaspora all over the world. It is estimated that the fast-growing language is now spoken by close to 250 million population.

Under this project, a WhatsApp based digital newspaper with the name – PAMBAZUKO (DAWNING in English) would be established under the professional journalists across the global, edited by able and world class renowned editors.

Also, the project aims at countering disinformation distributed, hugely by social media. The spread of rumors, hoaxes, and calculated others call “fake news” (we at Pambazuko believe no news is fake) primarily happens on WhatsApp, whose closed network and low data costs are good for keeping in touch with family, friends, and colleagues away from lurking eyes of random acquaintances.
